Rain cycle; Binning Woods...

Work finished and after a week of rain most days it seemed fit to also cycle in the rain!,
Binning Woods  was ideal on the Single speed in such conditions and with no one around ideal for a spot of filming and i hung the Go Pro from tree branches using the mono pod...

All weather tracks are also now here allowing a mud free cycle if one wishes...

Back home and the waterproofs as well as the bike needed a hose down, a fun couple of hours...

Life in the Rain...

Saturday Craig got in touch to go for a short pedal to stretch the legs.  With Motorbike racing and the annual Seacliff Horse Endurance ride on this weekend i would struggle to do an off road ride from HQ but managed a fun route that did nor interrupt  horses and  we rode some stuff you never see other tyre tracks on...

It was raining heavy when we left HQ/Returned leaving around NB when ok to film, so elsewhere the Go Pro was used for stills...

The Exmoor Ponies on NB law...

NB Observer Corps Monitoring Post... Bunker door welded shut...

Space Invaders...

Drem Airfield and M was out riding and we chatted a bit before heading as the skies darkened to the west...

Big clouds of rain grew closer as we spun the pedals back to HQ...

Spits of rain at our heels...

Made it home just as the heavens opened for the next hour or so we sat drinking hot tea feeling a bit smug we beat the rain back as it thudded off the lean too roof...

Here is some film from today, song is `Life in the Rain` by Quantic...

Rain Cycle; Some rain clothing views

This Winter weeks holiday is always the same for me; cycling locally every day, and then a few ciders in front of a roaring fire in the evenings...

It cannot be sunny all the time!, and i spent 3 hours in heavy rain riding around my local woods on the Surly Karate Monkey 29er. Ideal for riding around here in the slop being single speed.

Too heavy rain for using the compact camera so i only got a couple of pics in between the down pours...

Despite the overcast day there is still some nice Autumn colours this now here...

Out riding nearly 3 hours and the Craft Performance breathable jacket i was given by friend Hendo who had out grown it was still dry!. A bit war in Summer this light weight pac lite is ideal on a day like today...

My Endura Strike water proof gloves i bought from CRC were not though!
A bit disappointing these as i bought them having had read good reviews on them. The cuffs were under the Jacket sleeves to prevent water running inside, but it soaked through the fingers...

The Montane Featherlite pac lite trousers are useless at keeping out rain, they are not even shower proof as claimed!.
I have had 3 pairs of these now. And the newer 2 pairs have not been as waterproof as the first pair i owned, dissapointing,
They are wind proof and very breathable, so ideal to wear on real bitter cold days on the coast...

I should have worn my commuting Endura Gridlock waterproof over trousers. They are non breathable though. ok for the cycle to work but not building up some heat offroad.
Think i need to bite the bullet and splash out on some Gore Bike Wear Path Windstoppers, friend Sanny has these and swears by them, along with the short Berghaus Glacier Gators to stop water running into your boots...
As it did today due to my trousers leaking and the Inov 8 gators soaked up the water...

The Karate Monkey single speed proves ideal for rising around in the slop. With wet lube on the chain it just needs a quick hose down and it is job done...

I did a short Go Pro chest cam film from some trails today zooming through the woods, not very exciting but shows some of the fun trails in Binning Wood...

With all the mud and slop about it`s back to the clean sands of the coast tomorrow!

Rain Cycle; Tyninghame Links...

Been a very damp and cold week here on the East Coast,
After a wild white out of powder dry  snow on Monday it has thawed and been damp and bitter cold with rain showers most days,
It is what it is and life goes on...
I have rode every Saturday this year and a bit of rain was not stopping me doing what i enjoy,
A short relaxed pace cycle around my local woods and coast at Tyninghame with friend Stuart on his black Pugsley...
