fruits of autumn


wise man says...
lots of berries on rowan trees is a good sign of a hard winter...
there loaded with berries this year...

and also the hawthorn hedges...

the hawthorn which is used as hedging on many of our country roads is the scourn of cyclists for its puncturing thorns esp this now as there being cut,but the thorns of the seabuckthorn are alot worse as the tips break off,i painfully know this from many hours cutting it back in my last job,its recognisable from its bright orange berries-which have a purr id smell,on a ray mears programme on tv he drunk some of the juice of squeezed berries saying its full of vitiman C,this stuff tastes disgusting as iv had the odd drop from burst berries,kids call the bush the baked bean tree,you can see why..
