Saturday Trailride; Another Big Sky Day...

A late text on Friday night from Craig for a xc ride around trails from Haddington saw me rolling out the SS Ritchey Commando to meet friends in Haddington for a great day riding 30 miles of trails, and barely 2-3 miles of tarmac,
Stuart planned a loop of approx 30 miles  and not sure of how to get off road west from Gifford to Saltoun woods i filled in the gap and led the way on previously ridden trails i know.

The sky was blue as blue as we peddled from Bolton to Gifford...

An old Raleigh, i wonder when this was left here propped against a wall?, stunning patina...

Cafe stop, had to giggle at the road cyclists who later stopped in and questioned our wide tyres-we all had + tyres except D on his 9zero7 Fatbike, obviously they were not local to have not seen such girth! I thought about all the places we would ride today they would not see in the County,
I really like to chat with cycle tourers who have so much to share of their travels and the people they meet and things they see,
But most road cyclists i find real odd for cyclists!, they cannot seem to think outside the book,
Also why do they all only talk about entering events, their distances, and stats?, who cares?
I find it all totally boring, why not just ride because you enjoy riding? :)

Moving on and the ace trails around Gifford, with big sky views when out the woods...

Cool to see the picture frame back up!, repainted and new wiring,  this is where i got the idea for the picture frames at Archerfield Walled Garden...

A new addition, meet `Bob` the bus! some type of fishing Glamping thing going on here as we rode west on the old Gifford Railway line

Lammer Law, need to pop up there soon and enjoy the views again, and the descent...

Fun trails through Saltoun Woods then out into this lovely view, almost Alpine

Railway trails, and look here, chopped up WW2 Hurricanes and Spitfires loaded on trains here from RAF Macmerry, what were they thinking about?, our heritage that helped the war effort scrapped!, not to mention their value now...

Donuts on Winton Hill...

Nettles are starting to get big and catch bare skin on some trails!...

Trails all the way back to Haddington, technical or fast they are all flowing...

And that`s a wrap...
An ace 30 miles of dry trails with great banter,  the odd nettle sting!

Here is 12 mins of film,

Song is `Rooftop` by Stereophonics...
