First Autumn Big Swell rolls in on the east coast...

All day at work on Tuesday we watched huge waves and tumbling surf roll in down at Peffersands...

After work i raced home and grabbed the Moonlander and headed down to the coast and watched the first of the big swells of this autumn and winter roll in. Hundreds of miles across the North Sea these huge waves will have travelled. The power of the sea  on full display, huge waves, the roar of the water once ashore in a kind of amphitheatre was impressive and amazing to watch...

Have i said i really like riding this bike?,

With its 5" tyres on 4" rims and narrow rear chain stays giving no heel contact issues, 135mm rear hub giving options of all available Internal gear hubs as well as Trials hubs and single speed along with regular 135mm hubs like Hope Pro 2 etc, i still think the Moonlander with it`s perfect chain alinement for 3x9 or 2x10  is still the best Fatbike for beachriding despite all the new Fatbikes coming out...
But at the end of the day it`s sometimes about where you go and what you see that is more important than the bike your riding, or so i thought this evening as i watched the power of nature...

Title of a Boards of Canada  2003 remix on `From left to Right` is the song that sprang to mind and repeated around my head this evening as i walked around the lake with Francis and Mowgli...

Hang on you said `Lake` and your Scottish?. err yep!
We have 3 lakes i know of in Scotland, the most famous is `Lake of Menteith` in Stirling shire,
And then 2 lakes here in East Lothian- `Pressminnon Lake `, and this other less known one that is,
well you don`t need to know where it is, it`s our local back yard and if you stumble across it then enjoy it for what it is but remember it is on a private estate so respect its owners privacy...

Sunday XC cycle with friends...

Friend Jason called to say our Friend Steve was stopping by in North Berwick on route home from a week on Skye cycling with friend Sara, and requested a big day out cycling, So Jason led out a 50 ish mile loop around the county taking in a lot of the John Muir Way (JMW) the old Garleton Ridge Road and would see us all ride from North Berwick ride through Tyninghame, Dunbar, East Linton, Athelstaneford, Longniddry, Aberlady, Gullane, Dirleton and back to North Berwick, 60ish miles for myself once home, a good workout,

Another new Fatbike on the market and a film, but it`s differant...

As is promoting beach riding!,  you know this is actually the first company to promote fatbikes for sand and rocks on the coast with a UK Video, ok so it`s jazzed up using a talented UK rider- Chris Akrigg but nods to Mongoose for doing so,  Every other fatbike company  ouside of Surly who market them as `bikes to ride where a regular Mountainbike struggles` is trying to market them as replacements to regular mountainbikes, take for example On One, who seemed bent on being as far from the coast as possible with their On One Fatty marketing even to the point of being negative towards beachriding in a recent CTC  article on fatbikes that i contributed to, daft as you think companies want sales eh?!...
Said it already and will say it again if i do not need a fat tyre where i am going i will ride a 29er or 29+ tyre  bike, or a 35-41mm road tyre bike, and if i rode trail centres it would be a 650b full suspension bike or the Surly Instigator for a hard tail...

Anyways just to show i am not biased towards Surly here is the Mongoose film, even if i just bought my 6th Surly frame set (second hand) that arrives next week... :)
