The beach at Tyninghame was surprisingly quiet, this is one of the busiest places outside Gullane and North Berwick, we were not complaining as great to get quiet favourite beaches to cycle...

Soon be at Scoughall Farm and head back through Tyninghame Woods...

A Saturday cycle with friends; Pt 3 of 6...

 

We soon cycled around the Salt marsh from Mosshouse point and out around Sandy Hirst Point...

Campers, I have real real mixed feelings about the invasion of folk camping here at Tyninghame this Autumn  as hardly any have provisions for the Toilet - ie a Shovel to bury their deposits and the mess being left in woods is disgusting,

That and their cars left overnight in the car park which states no overnight parking but they know local authorites have no budget to control this happening and those doing this can via their mobile phones go online and have parking payed for there the next day, and so there is nowhere for local annual car park permit holders to park to visit here, this includes myself who just wants to drive down here for an hour cycle and enjoy the coast, it's a farce compared to how the Coastal car parks were managed when I was young...

The Covid Pandemic has made me realise something, it should have brought out the best in people looking after folk and instead it has brought out the selfishness in people, from Supermarket stockpiling of essential food before those still working had the chance to shop, to the total disregard for the Countryside by people who use it with no regard for those around them and what they do and leave behind...

A friend has stopped dog walking here after his dog had rolled in human poo... imagine that! 

Roll on the cold winter days and they will be gone I say...

Tynemouth rocks at low tide...

 

Indeed it does not!, but time things right and you can access a lot of ground as the low tide ebbs as we did this morning at Tyninghame...

No one has an answer for what these rocks which once stretched in an organised line was for, ma made it once served a purpose for something...

Fun crossing that and time to head on to the next section before the tide returns...

A Saturday cycle with friends, Pt 2 of 6...

 

Across Hedderwick Sands, as usual no one around out here, which is why I love cycling the coast here, it is so quiet compared to the coast between Aberlady to North Berwick, it has kinda been ruined by the Corona Virus as now it is like an invasion daily of visitors from Edinburgh with so many people not away abroad on holiday descending daily to the coast being so close to the Capital,

Moving to Dunbar has been a breath of fresh air away from the Rat Run Commuter belt - oh there is a City Commuter rush here in Dunbar but it goes straight out south onto the A1 North bound trunk road and the Town remains largely quiet and safe to cycle and always easy to park in town if driving...

Anyhows back to the coast and we crossed the sands to take to trails along the coast from Hedderwick to cross the River Tyne Estuary to Tyninghame....

Big lack of straw bales in harvested fields this year which are always so photogenic, and any bales seem to have been lifted real quick this year which is a shame as has always been a favourite image of harvest time for myself...

Through the fields and over the bridge and onto Tyninghame....

A Saturday Cycle with friends; Pt 1of 6...

 

Saturday!, well last Saturday the blogs a week behind as doing loads of cycling and breaking down multi film days into daily blog posts,  Now we cannot meet like this  with Covid19 cases on the increase again, 

Last Saturday we had a Fatbike cycle with friends, today out with the Dunbar On Yer Bike Facebook group, run by G, and slowly I am converting her friends to the fun of Fatbikes...  `Resistance is futile`... lol

From a blogging and film making point having a group of riders makes for more film footage to edit up more films from just a couple of hours cycling. Why is this?, easy because you have more variety filming everyone. You could extend the film time even longer by adding some pictures, or time-lapse, but I would have enough footage for Six 3 minute films,  add some stills from the Go Pro footage when editing on iMove and you have 6 blog posts made easy...It's just a matter of slowing this bird down and spreading out the days cycle into short films...

Today we met in Dunbar and cycled around John Muir Park and onto Tyninghame, it was low tide when we left at 11am so ideal...

Out and around the point and onto Hedderwick Sands...

Surly PugLander; on the rocks...

 

The `PugLander` build is proving to be a great bike on the coast, a worthy successor to my original Moonlander.

The geometry and higher head tube height of the new Pugsley 2.0 and not too short a chain stay giving a stable ride is proving to be a real winner on the coast...

The world at 4psi...

These WW2 `Coastal Crust` defences anti tank blocks are a bit different from the hundreds of others along our coastline as they are full of quarried  black stone chips, I believe from the former Traprain Law quarry?,Seen this in other blocks probably to bulk up the concrete, but never so much as here,

And they were poured on top of brick bases, wonder if it was an outside contractor responsible?, 

I guess we will never know as so little information about the blocks is available...

Going to really enjoy this bike now on the coast...
