Saturday i lent my Pugsley to friend Dave and we went a beachride with jason on his recently built up pugsley,
With a mid afternoon hightide i hatched a plan to get in some sandy singletrack and a bit beach so Dave could see what these bikes can easily ride over...
riding west at Aberlady Bay...
Onto the sand at Gosford Bay and Dave was amazed at the ease of riding over the soft terrain...
Passing some strange beach art...
While i caught my breath trying to slog through the soft bits on the 29er bike the guys had a chat about the bikes, lots of big grins...
Fernie Ness Point and well preserved WW2 coastal Defences...
I showed the guys the WW2 coastal defence Spigot mortar mount i found,it isn`t on any websites, most of all this stuff is documented...
Then some nice singletrack above the coast. We met friend Gavin riding the other way and had a blether before riding the lovely bit of sandy singletrack to Port Seaton, you will see that on some film i did.
2 trails through the woods then returning along the soft sand i struggled and ran along side the bike to keep up!, The smile on Daves face says it all...
Jason has been smiling non stop for nearly a month now!...
I filmed from the coast road along Gosford Bay
Food stop at Gosford Bothy Cafe...
The Guys have not been through Luffness Woods so i showed them Bickertons Tomb, Where Sir David de Lindsey, a Knight who fought in the crusades was buried in the now ruin monastery...
In the Estate is an old Dove Cot or as pronounced here in Scotland `Doo cot`,
a comman building in East Lothian built to keep pidgons for food...
Heading back to Gullane we stopped for a look around the ruins of Saltcoats Castle.
You can see more pics and information on the other blog;
No Through Road
A great day out and as Dave agreed amazing fun where these bikes go, they do indeed open up a whole new world of cycling...expect to see another pug here soon...
Once you ride one like i said resistance is futile...
Some film...
