Military Museum Scotland visit...

 

We had planned to go to this in the Jeep (with support van just in case!) as 50 mile each way to the south of Edinburgh on the A71 at Kirknewton, but it was absolutely freezing! hard frosts and gritters out pouring salt on the roads so G drove her car to give it a run and we were up for 10am opening time to check the trade stalls for any goodies, with a few items purchase and the traders put them aside we had a look around the Museum after meeting Ian the Curator and paying our reasonable donation entry fee were not disappointed by what there is to see,

Guns, you want to see guns?- there is everything you can think of, from side arms to Stenguns, Brens, M1`s and ammo, Grenades, mines, flares - all deactivated of course!, to uniforms of all nationalities, along with personal effects,  it was really impressive...

Back home and some of the things I bough at the trade stalls, a lovely British shovel and a WW2 Trench tool, at £15 each real world prices and not the over inflated eBay prices...

The Shovel will clean up nice, ordered some Gun Blue for the metal work...

The trench tool has no WW2 date stamp but it is definitely original, some 3 in 1 oil soon had it cleaned up and the tight locking ring was soon loosened off with the oil over a cup of tea sat in the sun in the garden...

Some coffee mugs were bought to help support the Museum and a pressie for G`s sone Dan...

Ha ha!

 

I picked up a canvas bucket  for the Jeep and soon had it soaked in Drab Olive and once dry mounted on the Jeep using the Fuel can strap...
