Easter Saturday beach ride with friends...

Weekend on for me at work so a couple of hours out early but did not expect this that was dumped in a white out as i drove up to work at 6,30am! 2-3 inches of snow!...

Easter Saturday we could do without this at work with a booked days golf and a lot of income, it was wet snow so would be away by mid day...

More snow moving along the Lammermuir Hills, have to admit to not had the urge to drive up to the hills to ride the snow that has been up there for a couple of weeks now, it has been that easterly wind/damp cold weather of late and not the per ma frost Arctic type temps which give dry firm snow that fat bikes need,
the snow will probably be very wet and not much fun ...

I arranged to meet Barry, Jason and Derek for a recce ride  of the Sunday ride from Whitekirk of the upcoming FORTH FAT Gathering,,

The snow had already mostly shifted from Whitekirk hill by 10am...

Always good to get out cycling on the coast with friends, If your local you will work out the route... -:)

Jason`s new bike, 907... very nice it is too...

Cracking view at the harbour...

This little rock section is always a tester, but here`s proof that even NATE tyres can make a fatbike ride rocks...

If you have a Budgie you will know what this is, a lot of Cuttlefish bones getting washed up this now...

WW2 Coastal defence Machine Gun Pill Box explore!...

Clear!..

Peffersands and discussion was wether to go up the dunes for a spot of surfing or not, guess the result?....

Time for a spot of Dune surfing at Peffersands, been a while since done a bit of this, and it is still a blast...

Myself...

Jason...

THE SECRET TRAIL
Onto the secret trail, its not that secret, its all over the Internet, on this blog and as it has a Geo cache on it, Its name i gave as its original entrance/exit was not that easy to see by visitors to the coast here as they walk down to the coastline and seeing the sea they  walk on past the entrance. exit....
Once it was a narrow old path, probably originally a linking path to the WW2 coastal crust defences along the coast here, the Conduit pipe in the Machine Gun Pill Box on the trail shows that the defences were connected by radio coms. As a kid i walked along this narrow trail with my dad when he was the County Ranger. When i moved nearby in the mid 90s  the trail  was overgrown and 90% un rideable on a bicycle, over the years i have tweaked and trimmed parts of the trail and apart from a wee bridge needed over the burn and over a pine tree branch it is now rideable on a bicycle, with a bit of balance.....

Back to Barry`s house and a bike wash and tea & cake , how all good bike rides with friends should end...
