Autumn Commuting this week on the Royal Enfield Classic 350!

With a broken spring being repaired this week on the car I have on loan from the garage this week it was back on the bike for the 3 days to work!

I dropped the bike off and cycled home on a Singlespeed Pugsley I knocked together previous weekend from stuff lying about, I wanted a cheap bike with no mech to put in the back of the car until I get my van repaired, you will recognise some cool parts on this bike!...

Here is a film from the next days commuting into work on the bike, pitch black am so most of film is after work!

Motorcycle heated gloves! - RST Paragon 6

These gloves are great!, I wish I had them back when I was riding to work and it was -6C!

In use these are brilliant!, I have not needed to use them yet on the hot setting but if I had  got them while we got that 2 week cold snap and -6C temps I am sure they would have kept my hands real warm.

With 3-4 hours battery life there is enough for my 3 days committing of approx 25- 30 minutes and enough for a Sunday ride about, so I am real happy with them for the money, and can be transferred to use on the Willy Jeep or even out walking or cycling if real cold...

Wee film I have done on them...

Winter commuting on the Royal Enfield Classic 350 - How has it faired after winter road salt exposure?

With a loan of a car to winter commute I decided to clean the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and having just fitted a replacement chain - there seems to be a fair different life span on owners chains on these bikes and many other makes of smaller bikes that often do not come with a higher quality chain. I fitted a DID X ring which while around £80 is worth every penny from previous use of these on motorcycles.

Milage was just over 4000 miles so I did a short film

So, after spraying some Lanoguard on the underneath of the frame and centre stand then dousing the whole bike in GT85 after wrapping cloths around the brake rotors the bike has sat unwashed for 3 months near day use as my only day to day transport and 2000 miles on winter road salted roads...

Really really impressed with how the bike still looks....

UPDATE: Back to Work soon and back to all hobbies soon!...

Into February... and January was a right off for myself been ill with Labyrinthitis  - don't know if an after long covid thing or end of a dirty leggy cold I had which has not 100% shifted yet but I'm now back to being able to safely drive, go to work and so try get back to regular life and hobbies!

The whole van saga has been nothing short of a disaster taking 6 month to sort but I  have a loan of a car now for getting to work in bad weather, I am not delving on it anymore i have been ill so not been able to even walk or cycle in a straight line never mind drive a car/van or ride a motorbike anywhere until this last week, so i am feeling so much better now! -)

I have had so many requested films to make on the motorcycle by new subscribers to my Youtube Channel but those films can wait - it is only February after all and better weather lighter evenings are on the way which will allow more time...

Speaking of making films I am still trying to keep the Youtube channel to the same format which is kind of three hobbies now - Coastal cycling, The Royal Enfield Motorbike, and the Willys Jeep, and keep it in that order, the beachriding on the venerable Surly Pugsleys comes first then the motorbike and Jeep,

But it is the motorbike film views that are for my channel gone massive in interest and the amount of views that they get...

So today with G at work I ventured out myself and a big wide beach is the best place to go to get back on a bike and after a few wobbles I was ok, so set myself a co ordination exercise doing some point to point filming which seemed to go ok!

Wee film.. good to be getting back to normal!

Royal Enfield Classic 350 - out in the winter sun...

I was out commuting again by motorbike to work last week before my cold worsened again, but it was nice to get out in milder weather and in the dry. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 is still my only transport this now with my van still not repaired - feels like its never going to be repaired and back on the road,

Sadly it will now have succumbed  to the winter salt not having been washed for weeks now but i`m kind of past caring about that now as its just a motorbike and bought to get used...

I made a short film on the ride home from work, as I do enjoy making films out on the Enfield as I do when out cycling...

Royal Enfield Classic 350 - Commuting fun!

Its been starting to get real cold commuting 3 days a week on the Enfield!,  but my van should be ready in 2 weeks - garages are all flat out this now as folk are keeping the cars they own as sales for new cars shows having dropped...

I just get wrapped up and try have some fun and I have around 30 minutes decent light on the way home and so as I did today do some filming and pictures if the weather is nice...

Here is another wee film, The Enfield film viewings are off the scale! as are the amount of likes and comments from folk all around the world!

A Jeep Commute!...

Thursday and final 3 day working week for me so looking at a good weather forecast I fired up the Jeep the previous evening and stuck 20 Litres of E10 fuel which is now £1.79 a Litre which has finally dropped after ridiculous prices and I left for work at usual 5.10 am and out of town I drove through thick drifting mist from the cold sea air coming into warmer land temps, common here on the coast...

I parked up to shoot some film and take some pics...

After a busy day at work it was soon home time and around 2.30pm I cruised around some back roads taking in the harvested fields scenery...

After a load of Jeep and scenery pictures I was soon home and changed a blown RHS dip beam headlight bulb - probably caused by a loose earth wire which came away from its mount...

Here is some film I shot on route and after work...

Friday Fatbike Commute

Under 4 weeks now to the winter solstice,
Today an 8.05am sunrise, 15.49pm sunset and time to get out in darkness on the commute off road as real cold high pressure weather ends the week.
Wrapped up now for commuting in winter trousers (Keela Scuffers) and a base layer, and mid weight merino socks it`s fun to get out and embrace winter.

Lights were charged the previous evening and i got up an hour early and left the house at 6am giving me a relaxed hour to ride to work off road on the John Muir Way trail...

Without a camera capable of decent night time pictures i always struggle to get pics in the dark. Night  riding is fun off road as trails you know well and are familiar with seem quite different through the beam of lights.  The latest lights allow you to ride almost as fast in the dark as daylight off road, but i think they can take away some of the element of night riding which is only seeing  the trail close up, so it is a balance of on the edge fun and safety...

After a few days heavy rain the JMW makes for quite a mud free ride into town where all was quiet, only delivery vans and newspaper delivery kids on the streets...
Back on the JMW and into darkness and the woods at Yellowcraig then into the estate...

Nice light shows...

Arrive at work early and time for a cuppa before a check around as the sun came up...

A cold but pleasant day in the winter sun...

Soon be home time and the sun had already set and the last light of the day in the sky to the west as i headed back to NB via the JMW again to Yellowcraig...

Along the coast above the tide line and Fidra Lighthouse again lit up the darkening sky..

Through the sandy single track to NB as the light faded behind...

Last pic from the harbour as the temperature started to drop... time to head for home and a Cider in front of a warm stove...
