Since their first visit to East Lothian back in March along with Steve and Jen from Singletrack Magazine to do the Beach Riding Article my friends Andy and Jane have planned to do a return visit here for a weekend.
We caught up at the two fatbike meets and at the Yorkshire meet a date was pencilled in and they turned up at coastkid Chateau in the camper van on Friday evening -:)Jason was gutted to not make the Yorkshire meet so i invited him over, also Ritchie (Saltyman) popped up for the day from Newcastle as he has still to visit the WW2 midget Submarine wrecks here out in Aberlady Bay...
I met Andy four years ago via Facebook when he contacted me abought some info on Surly Pugsley parts for a frameset he had ordered. We never met until that first UK fat Bike Gathering at Lindesfarne in Northumberland in September 2011. A friendship like many made with these bikes that is special...
Weekends with friends like Jane and Andy are always a scream, their is always a theme that goes on over the weekends from things we find out riding, road cones, frisbies, rope and buckets all come along the beach with us!. Swapping accents and Jane even got mistaken for a bloke out side a cafe! That was priceless! "Bit muddy today lads?" lol!, the old boy got a bit red faced when he realised -:)
All pics are from Saturdays ride,
A few beers Friday evening then we headed to Aberlady and out over the Nature Reserve chasing an incoming tide to get to the subs...
Andy and Jane brought me a pressie from Yorkshire - a flat cap! -:) i wore it all weekend off the bike -:) ...
I found a plastic glitter ball washed up, we had a laugh with this for the rest of the weekend, but wondered if it brought us bad luck? first Richie broke his rear mudguard, then Andy fell off on rocks and ripped his Gore jacket, Jason had gear problems too, and then i bent the rear mech on the Moonlander, first mech i have bent for years!,
Was this ball - by now named `The All Seeing Eye` a curse?, maybe someone had thrown it away into the sea to rid its devilish work?... Only Jane who carried it all Saturday in her back pack was unharmed.
After i found it Jason had used his wizards beard and Scrying the ball told the words we all knew are coming soon.. good or bad words depending on how you look at things, you will see in a short film further down...
Murder Hill...
I shot some SD film with the compact camera,
Song is `Dogs Got a Bone` by Scottish band `Beta Band`
Fuel at Falko`s German Cafe in Gullane...
More sandy woodland trails back to the coast...
And their are more Wood Trolls too! -:) ...
Inland and around the local estates...
More food and coffee...
Saturday evening and Pizza and booze in front of the fire...
While we were watched by the All Seeing Eye...
Under the ball is an Exposure lights Six Pack light, Jane is sponsered by Exposure lights and look at all these goodies!...
Quite happy with my cheap Magic shine lights for the handle bars but i like the Diablous helmet light and will probably get one in the near future, the accessories available are really good for Exposure lights.
Take a look at the website; Exposure Lights
Defo getting one of these...
Some film of these impressive lights out front of the house...
Sunday was an overcast day and a short beachride to Tyninghame and the village cafe was spent just enjoying the day with good friends, cameras left at home and enjoying the day...
Thanks Ritchie for letting me use some of your pics to fill the post...
The glitter ball is added to the pile of stuff brought home from the coast and will be a reminder of a great weekend...
Life is Good... -:)
