Pugsley...

After a stunning week of cold clear weather with air frosts every morning the heavens opened Thursday evening just after i got home from work on the Fargo (update on the Fargo soon) and the for cast is same for weekend, bah hum bug...
Thursday evening i instead did some work on the pugsley, general clean up after the weekend away at North Yorkshire.

Anyway here is the minimum tool kit  i now carry either on the pugsley, Karate Monkey 29er or the Surly Moonlander, i just swap the spare tubes - Moonlander carrys a full size Surly tube as a 2.5 tube cannot be patched and over inflated for the 4.7" tyre...

Tool bag contains;
Pump,
Spare tube - a Nokian 2.4 Down Hill tube as smallest i can find that will still fit a 3.7" tyre
Patches - you may get a second flat and need to repair first tube!
Multi tool with chain splitter,
Sram quick links
Tyre lever,
Spare 2 links of chain,
Gear cable -  can double as a brake cable if needed,
Squirt chain lube - in an old eye drop bottle, sometimes needed on very wet days on the coast with a road ride home

This fits in a Jandd Frame pack or as below in the lower compartment of my Epic Designs (now named Revelate) frame bag...

Add a litre of water, lock for cafe stop, cameras and gorilla tri pod, cereal bars, i pod and all that fills up a  kidney belt bag or the Jandd frame pack...

If i want extra water or need room in the frame bag then i can add a bottle to the fork leg...

Bottle cage is mounted using stainless P clips - 5 for a fiver on eBay, these are a 22mm and 25mm size...

I managed to pinch flat the pug a few weeks back riding on the local Garleton Hills whem bombing down an open grass field at speed and clipping the only stone around hidden in the grass and the impact also ended up putting a big ding in the large Marge rims...

And a 6mm tear in the front tyre...

Easy to repair, first clean then glue a patch on the inside over the tear. I use 45 mm motorcycle patches. chalk dust it once dry to stop it sticking to the tube once re inflated...

When your single you can thread a needle and sew, you have too! ...

Use Dental floss and sew through the tyre and patch. The dental floss is strong and will not rot...

Job done and pugs rolling again and time for a nice cider...
