Got the drop top tube Pugsley frame back from Pentland Powder coating outside Edinburgh last week...
For £35 you get what you pay for, but the finish is good enough and edges and threads etc had been covered before coating...
The frame set now has bottle cage mounts on the offset forks, and a bottle mount and crud catcher mounts on the down tube...
Some stickers before it got grease and oil on it then time to swap the frames over...
A real quick an easy swap over as all cables, mechs and brakes come off with the stem and handlebars...
Phil Wood square taper BB and Middleburn RS7 cranks are 5 years old now, and one of the best Fatbike combo of parts i have bought...
Extras off too...
And bars with all cables...
Headset stays on the old frame...
Some grease inside the seat post tube then hang the new frame and rebuild...
New £30 Cane Creek FORTY headset...
The fork steerer tube of this Pugsley was not long enough for my height i required for the Jones loop bars...
But too tall with the BBB steerer extender...
So i removed the fork, tapped the star nut inside the steerer down an inch, then cut an inch off the steerer tube...
Better now, and will be ok if i swap to my regular riser MTB bars if preferred...
Looks a bit ugly i know, but with a stem bag on it looks fine...
BB back on...
And cranks...
And the Surly Monkey nuts in the rear drop outs, these are needed for the 29+ wheels to clear the front mech...
Mount the mechs and brake callipers and cable tie on all cables...
Then raid the parts trays for 5mm stainless Allen bolts...
And mount up bottle cages and crud catcher after applying copper grease to all threads...
Tool bags and nearly done...
Vola! KramPug Evolution!...Fat wheels will stay on for most of the winter...
I will ride this bike for a bit then get it powder coated later after New Year. Got a china plate pattern bash ring like this bike originally had!...
And it also ran an Alfine 8 speed Internal Gear Hub (IGH) for a year or so, and it will now again...
Fitted the original `Epic Designs` frame bags. And the rear rack so i can fit a pannier to carry clothes to work when i commute on it or go to the shops...
And a good rear light for winter commutes...
And the old Pug is rolling again...
Time to finish the shortbread and have a cider...
These pics are from the other morning when i ride to work...
And it is nice to have a Pugsley with an Alfine hub again...
Ace! :)
So both Pugs dialled now for riding around here...

we- that is, my wife and I, are just back home in Musselburgh after 4 years of cycling around the world. Great to see the boom in bikes - we love bushcrafting, art, bivvying and such and just can not believe there is anyone else near with the same passions. Road bikes and touring bikes with the occasional bit of mountain biking for us. We have a blog and write of our travels - are there any others close by? Cheers - Warren
