The forecast of the the last week of September being an Indian Summer has come good!.. Here are some pics pre sunrise as i cycled into work at 6.30am.. real cold at night at 3 Celcius, yet 22 Celcius midday!...
After a cold start each morning it has warmed up nice with T shirt temperatures..
Riding home from work it is back to thin gloves and short sleeves in the summer temperaures.
A quick bite to eat, change of clothes and been out most evenings soaking up the weather and scenery on the Surly ECR. Usually i ride an off road loop of farmland tracks and trails through the remaining harvested fields that have not been disc ed or plough yet...
Roasting!...
Temperatures soon drop after sunset...
Wee film i made one evening using the FUJI XP 80 compact camera...

14; Sept; Surly ECR evening cycle... from coastkid71 on Vimeo.
Another misty dawn commute, 3 degrees Celsius and chilly, the day begins and an amazing glow to the east...
The sun would soon burn away the mist and the sky was the bluest of blues...
Cycling home form work and above average temperatures of 18 Celsius...
Big orange moons rising each evening, though i cannot seem to take pics of the moon in focus despite all the new camera settings!...
Not many days left to cycle harvested stubble fields as they slowly get harrowed or ploughed and sown with next years crop, or they get covered with composted manure.
There is still a small group of fields at Whitekirk that are poo free and can be linked into nice wee 2 hour cycle when including the John Muir Way and local estates trails and field boundaries. Never more than 3 miles from home yet loads of riding, and this is not including Binning Wood and Tyninghame!. I am spoiled for choice...
Thursday 1st October and onto winter hours now, 8am start so i get time to watch the sunrise on the commute...
And another warm day with blue skies!, this is ace this weeks weather!...
Home and back out on the Surly ECR, loving riding this bike...
Former WW2 RAF Drem...
Autumn is here when the Geese arrive...
Sunset... time for home and fire up the stove and have a glass or two of red wine...
Friday looks like more of the same weather, Saturday i will be heading to the coast to cycle with friend Brian and anyone else coming out to play...
More soon...
Nice pictures! My morning commute temps are also as low as +3c but here in Finland, the day temps are dropping now rapidly also, and first snow is forecasted to drop soon!, time to start browsing bike shops for spiked tyres for my commute bike!
ReplyDeleteThis is what you ride through? Sweet. I'm officially envious. The mountain trails can provide memorable rides, but the same can be said with the open fields! You'll never get tired cycling with these views.
ReplyDeleteHi Johnny, Scotland has such a variety of countryside landscape compacted into such a small place compare to the US or Oz, yet you can still get away from roads and everyone and have your own micro adventure!
ReplyDeleteHi Babelbabeck, i envy the winters of northern europe!, Though i am lucky to have cycled here in Scotland through the freak artic condition winters of 2010/11, it was an amazing experiance!
