A Beachride on the Windy Side...

Been a wild few days but still got out for a midweek beach ride with friends Jason and Steve M (of Singletrack beach riding article )who stayed over 2 evenings as he was up in Northumberland for the weekend.
With the gale force winds we used 2 cars and shuttled ourselves to the coast at Aberlady, then to return from North Berwick back to the first car then home, and so avoided a return slog into the wind back to the car. A wise choice as it was really windy once we were out onto the sand at Aberlady Bay. we winched out to the subs and could hardly stand up due to the strenght of the wind.  It was ace!, riding east to North Berwick we flew down the coast freewheeling and hitting funny speeds as the wind blew us along...

Steve winching out to the subs, granny ring all the way, it was that windy!...

Here is a bit film out there, check how wild it was!...

Was a wild sea...

Flew down a deserted Gullane beach...

And along all the sweet sandy single track...

Through the rocky sections...

How did a beer keg end up here on the coast?... -:)

Past Archiefield...

Then bombed down the flat sand at Yellowcraig...

And into North Berwick...

And coffee and food at Cake Cafe...

Life is Good... -:)

  5. "Sweet sandy single track" - not sure why that struck me as funny. I know it is a perfectly normal thing for a fat-biker to say, but for me "sweet" and "sandy" rarely work well together. Must have been tough going into that wind.
