Sold on by friend Mike the new owner had the cracked frame repaired by Kinetics in Glasgow...
The crack was caused not by the same design effecting some white production pug frames cracking in the same area (something Surly are warranting on all white frame cracks whatever age) but by myself by stupidly being to forcefull by stupidly seizing in a seat post from lack of grease (doh!)
The frames main tubes were then sanded to bare metal by myself...
Then all the nooks and crannys were sanded and finished mostly by friend Eddie who kindly offered to paint the frame in the original Thunderbird Grey...
I just got in the way mostly so tended to the stove to get some heat into Eddies Man Cave to get it warm enough for painting...
As the paint was removed from the old Pugsley the surface rust was removed to reveal a minted frame, despite this frame having done an estimated 7-8000 miles now, a lot of them on the beach...
.
I think this lays to rest the old myth about not using a steel frame for beachriding.
Steel also has a longer lifespan than most other frame materials.
If you do not mind a spot of surface rust on the mounts and weld holes then `Steel is (ok) Real`...
The frame repair had a straight edge which Eddie rounded with a Dremmel and file...
Ready for primer...Stove roasting!...
More in a bit...
I can't wait to see the new / old bike pug back together. That puts you at three fatbikes now!!!
